Christmas Presents
I have received a card this week from Sister Benedicte of Clumber Lodge Children’s home in Freshfield. She writes:- "Dear Father Gamble, Thank you for thinking about our children here at Clumber Lodge again. A big thanks to all your parishioners who were so generous by giving gifts, it was very appreciated. I wish you and the families of your Parishes every blessing for the New Year. With thanks again."

Hightown Club
This time last year we were preparing to have our Parishes get together at the Hightown Club, sadly it was not to be as the club burned down. This month, The Hightown Club is one of the “Community Good Causes,” Waitrose is trying to support. Every time you shop in Waitrose you are given a green token, if you wish to support the Hightown Club place your green token in its box and at the end of the month the Club will, I understand, be given its percentage share of the £1000 available for good causes. Please if you do shop in Waitrose, support the Hightown Club with your tokens.

Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity
We will all be changed. Change is at the heart of our Christian faith. Saint Paul said that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, and we are called to live as children in the light. The theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2012 comes to us from the churches in Poland, who have reflected upon their own experience as a nation, and in particular how, as a nation, they have been changed and transformed by the many upheavals of their history, and sustained by their faith. Change is also at the heart of the ecumenical movement. When we pray for the unity of the church we are praying that the churches that we know and which are so familiar to us will change as they conform more closely to Christ. This is an exciting vision, but also a challenging one. Furthermore, when we pray for this transforming unity we are also praying for change in the world.

Any parishioners who have parish events please email either Fr David or the web master (please put OLOV or HFIB in the subject to get past the spam filters)
