From Fr David

Today is the feast of the Epiphany, and tomorrow is the Baptism of the Lord, and that concludes Christmastime within the Church. It is now time to take the trees and the cards down, the decorations away and get the house and lives back to normal. I think it is also a time to reflect on how Christmas went and wonder if there is anything we can do better for next year.

I have already started my reflections and the one thing I and others have noted is that our numbers at Mass were well down on previous years. Where once you could never get a seat, you could come in late and pick a seat with the exception of the 11.15am. But the number of people who have told me that this Mass is too late, well the chorus is building. I wonder if it is time to reflect on our Mass times.

So while it is still fresh in our minds I thought I would ask you, the parishioners what you think of our Mass times at Christmas. Are you happy with the Mass times on Christmas Day or do you think we need to change them? One suggestion is that we keep the 8.00pm at Holy Family and the Midnight at Our Lady’s but have just one Mass on Christmas Day maybe at 10.00am. Although there were more at Our Lady’s on the Christmas Day, I think safety would mean having to have the Mass in Holy Family.

What do you think? Please this is a genuine discussion and no decision has been taken or made, I want to know what you want. If you want change fine; if you want to keep the status quo fine, but please let me know.
